Mr. Pusskins

At our last trip to the library they had a Valentine's themed display of children's books up.  While Emberly insists upon trolling the section for grade school aged kids, I was able to convince her to pick one that caught my eye:

Mr. Pusskins and Little Whiskers: Another Love Story
We absolutely loved it.  Maybe I more than she since it reminded me of two kitties I had as a child (Angel and Bisou, if my mom or sister are reading this).  Mr. Pusskins is a tad cranky and irritable, much like myself ;) and the perspective of the story used humor I found very relatable.  For instance, the use of quotation marks for hyperbole.
And in my search for a picture to use here, I discovered that Mr. Pusskins has a series of books (yeah, I totally missed the "sequel" blurb on the cover).  We hope the library has them all!

Here's Some Love

Happy Valentine's Day!
PhotobucketPhotobucket

We celebrated by making Valentine's for Emberly's friends and eating hamburgers.  Fancy, right?  That's okay, because the real fun comes tomorrow when I buy candy on clearance.  Take that, over-hyped holiday to drive consumerism! ;)
I tried to get some pictures of Emberly blowing a kiss.

I have trouble nailing that look too.  So here's some classic duckface for you.

And, guess what else?  The EBEW challenge was pink and red.  Hopefully it's not cheating that I ended up more pink and coral.

Plague

You know that wonderful time of year where the spouse that feels the least like crap has their turn dealing with wakeful screaming babies and puking preschoolers?
See you on the other heavily sanitized side.

Gorilla Bread

I saw this variation on monkey bread on Rachael Ray a few weeks ago and having just returned from the Dominican Republic and missing the sweet-and-savory banana pizza, it sounded delicious.  Bacon, bananas and syrup?  Um, hellz yes.

Emberly didn't care for it, but the rest of us people with working taste buds thought it was yumm-o (i gagged on my own giggle with that one).

Dance!

My kids love to dance.  I thought all little kids did, but being around more of them, I realize my kids *really* love to dance.
Bauer goes crazy for the opening theme of Conan.
Emberly has a mini obsession with LMFAO (she actually has trouble remembering that letter sequence {which is probably good LOL} and calls them Redfoo and Sky Blu).  She likes to Shuf-a-luffle (her words) and do the wiggle dance.  Ah, pervasive media and pop culture...  Thanks.

They're funny

Now that Bauer and Penelope are older, it's really funny to watch all the kids interact.  Emberly is the perpetually smothering big sister.  Bauer is the "but I'm not touching you" little brother.  Penelope is the passive telepath.  She put up with Emberly's smothering better than she did Bauer's invasion of personal space without actually doing anything.  And then of course there were all the time he did do something, like insert himself between her and a toy, or skip the formalities and outright take it from her.  Eventually, Bauer couldn't even look at her without her worrying about his intentions.
Pure entertainment.
I took a gazillion pics, but here are just a few.

{Pen as a hipster}

We went to the park a couple times. Had sushi, had a picnic. Dumped out and picked up our 200+ mega bloks who knows how many times. And then of course Jaime and I would enjoy a cocktail and conversation while pretending to watch tv once they tuckered themselves out. Good times.

Unwind

None of my posts happened this week.
I've been tightly wound this week.  Mostly because I had to expend so much energy trying not to suddenly change levels lest my head explode.  I don't seem to have a sinus infection, but the pressure in my face is crazy.  I just felt crappy and inexplicably stressed.
Luckily, my oldest friend came into town last night.  Her adorable daughter is providing loads of entertainment for my children, so less work for me LOL  That helped.
And then there was also the whole get dressed up for tapas and hours of conversation over a pitcher sangria.  That possibly made me feel better. :D
Here's what I wore:
