Spring

One of the trade-offs for great early spring temperatures in the Las Vegas valley is wind.  It's always windy.  Not good for my sinuses or my curled hair :|

Mannequin

When Emberly was first old enough to accompany me shopping sans stroller, she was very fascinated by mannequins.  She would hold hands with them and hug them.  Weirdo.
Now, she likes to pretend she's a mannequin.  She's not satisfied until people walk by and she endeavors to keep a straight face.

Bubba Booty

Another similarity between my late brother and my son is the enjoyment of nudity.
Bauer has become an expert at undressing himself and we find him in his birthday suit pretty frequently these days.
But nothing gets him to strip faster than putting some music on for him.  Every living room dance party results in a nakey baby.  I have no idea where he gets this from; everyone else remains clothed.  I figure he must be channeling his uncle.

Playtime

Emberly always wants us to throw her around like a rag-doll the way we play with Bauer.  To her, it shouldn't matter than she weighs nearly twice as much as he.

Unneeded HD

I saw a nail-look on Pinterest that I was inspired by.  However, ever picture I took of my hand just looked hideous.  And now I can't stop staring at my hands wondering if they're prematurely aging LOL

Modest Loot

I was excited after the fall ATG consignment sale to participate in the spring.  Until it was announced that it would be 25+ miles away.  I think participating requires at least 3 treks and at the price of gas, 150mi wasn't going to work for me.  In addition to just not having time to go over there with my current workload.
But when my hairstylist generously offered me her extra pre-sale ticket (i told her how easy it was and she did consign this time), I decided that I would go check it out one time.
Well, it took much longer to get up there than I anticipated (more than twice the google maps estimate) and I was somewhat rushed since I planned the trip before picking up the kids.  I ended up with a couple of dollar toys (a wooden pull train and some little monster trucks) and a couple outfits that caught my eye for my best friend's daughter.
I didn't find anything I wanted for Emberly (and I'm much more hesitant to buy for her since discovering she'll be wearing a uniform come fall).  And Bauer was able to wear everything I got him today:

Brothers Beware

Emberly made warning signs for her brother when he's not allowed to come in their room.   Typically because she's playing with a set of toys with small pieces not meant for those under 3yrs.
I bet she imagines this:

But here are the real signs, which I'll credit Bauer, are a bit confusing.  No smiling people?  Well, he's not smiling, he's not happy he can't get into his room!

Mini Man

I had trouble finding mens' fashion particularly exciting and when I was "oohing" and "ahhing" through the baby girls department, I always thought it must be awfully depressing and boring to dress a boy.
What I'm wrong about could fill a book!
Bauer wore his spring green pants on St Patrick's Day.  I could just eat him!

Candy Coated

I remember back in the nineties when I was in elementary school and I had bright and bold jeans and leggings that were dyed-to-match tees and cardigans and jackets.
And yet somehow the bright candy colored denim on trend for spring is refreshing.

Hiding

When you're a glutton like moi, and you're raising little gluttonous minions like Emberly and Bauer, who think that they deserve at least half of everything and definitely all last-bites, it becomes very necessary to sneak off to your favorite places and secretly buy treats, hide them and deftly snack upon them when the minions are unaware.
Writing {typing} it out is equal parts shameful and hilarious.
My latest and greatest guilty pleasure.  Popcorn Girl.  My hair stylist hipped me to it.  50+ flavors of popcorn, both sweet and savory?  Made fresh there on location?  This is very dangerous.
So far, my favorites are southwest jalepeno (spice-ay) and Chicago style.  Mixing caramel and cheese sounds so unsophisticated and counter-intuitive to me (the woman who doesn't let her food on her plate touch), but omg it's good.

Emberly and I met Damon for a late breakfast. My spinach, bacon and feta omelet was perfection.

Success

Your got pancakes for breakfast?
You sneak-attack smacked your mom right on the butt?
You built something crazy tall with your sibling and your mega bloks?
Your daddy offered you a bite of brownie and you forced him shove the whole thing into your mouth?

These types of success can only be celebrated Liz Lemon style.  High Fiving a Million Angels.

Highlight

This weekend we drove down to LA to attend a funeral.  Damon's relative that passed away was 91, so it was celebration of a grand life more than anything and sometimes far away relatives need these reasons to get together.
Damon had to work later than anticipated Friday night so it ended up being a turn-around trip.  9hrs of driving in two days is draining.  Especially when I had unidentified back pain.  I doze off in weird positions nursing Bauer in the mornings and I'm pretty sure that's the culprit, but man, I guess I'm getting pretty old LOL
Anyway, the highlight of the weekend was definitely Salt Creek Grille's Pomegranate Margaritas with friends.  Oh, and bacon wrapped shrimp and ceviche.  That was yums too.

Clearance + Free Shipping = Winning!

Whenever I get free shipping emails from places I like to shop for my littles, I immediately scour the clearance section.  Presidents day weekend scored them some sweet stuff from GAP and Old Navy.  Most of it is too big for them currently, but Emberly wore this ruffled jacket today.
Photobucket

I took them to the park at Town Square, but of course not before I killed an hour at H&M.  If I have to keep Bauer from being trampled by big kids and from climbing up slides as others zip down, I deserve a bit of retail therapy prior to.  I couldn't resist the bright trousers they had for kids.  So, while I talked myself out of a great sequined sweater, Bauer will be wearing green pants this spring. :D
Photobucket

PS, multiple people commented to me today that "these are your kids?" followed by a something about how young I look.  These freckles and cherub cheeks definitely keep me looking younger than I feel (which is just this side of crotchety LOL)!
