My dad introduced me to AMC's The Walking Dead when he was here a few weeks ago. I watched the whole first season and everything available onDemand for the second season in a couple days. Enthralled! Emberly though, not so much. Zombies are not her thing. Though, "sparkle zombies" wouldn't be so scary. I'm not sure what a "sparkle zombie" would be, but knowing Emberly, sequins and glitter are probably a big part of it.

Thanksgiving
This long weekend actually felt satisfyingly long to me. Rare.
I'm immeasurably thankful for my wonderful, healthy family, genuine friends and amazing life!

When Bubba ain't Happy...
Nobody's happy! I don't know what, exactly, was up with Bauer this weekend, but he was a whiny mess. He had a total of two expressions this weekend. Bothered and pissed. Maybe new teeth are on their way?
Even when I took him for some fresh air at the park, he just followed me around, whimpering.
The only thing that temporarily distracted him from his unidentified pain was a dog they met at the park.
Speaking of dogs, somebody has been letting their dog's business marinate in the green area. We actually stepped in some of it during our action photos last week. And we have the most dead patches in front of our home, despite being the only people on the block who don't have a dog! Anyway, somebody got fed up enough to be a smart ass about it!
{those are only 3 of about 8 bagged poos and in case you can't read that, it says "Pick up after your dog, kids play here!"}

Creative Differences
Emberly is quite the fashionista and I firmly believe in letting her out of the house in some of her crazy outfits, as long as they're seasonally appropriate.
This morning she skipped snuggle time to put together this Christmas inspired gem. Four year olds incorporate pattern mixing quite willingly!
While she did run several errands with me dressed in this, I'll admit I'm not brave enough to let her choose an outfit for our holiday pictures. She did have veto power over something she did NOT want to wear (I was actually going to do red velvet skinnies and her leopard ballet flats, but she wanted to wear tights!), but I chose this for her pictures for our holiday card:

Reunited
...And it feels so good...
My dad came to visit this weekend. I hadn't seen him since I my sister's graduation, when I was still pregnant. So he met Bauer for the first time! My sibling also hadn't seen him since then, so they came out as well. Good times!
Photo-bomb!

@ Damon's soccer game. My dad mostly helped Emberly play games on his phone and I mostly chased Bauer around the complex.
Just a photo-op
@ the farmer's market
@ Border Grill
My Dad and I also saw Immortals. It was okay. Damon and I debated the best action flicks of the summer, because we had to pick what to watch with my dad. Damon says Captain America and Transformers. I say X Men First Class and Thor. We watched the latter, so I think that means I won :D

Cheating (+ cheese)
So what's a girl to do when the EBEW challenge is to wear colored tights and the only pair she has are bright pink and she's really in no mood to wear them? Cheat and put some on her daughter and plaster her cute mug all over the interwebz. I'm a problem solver!
Emberly has some other fashion advice for you. Shredded is the new sexy. For your cheese. She asked me for sexy cheese for her pasta the other day and with a few questions, I figured out that the word she was actually searching for was "shredded."
**Update**
Turns out, I'm a liar. After my workout I sucked it up and donned the hot pink tights.

Deficits
Mostly in my attention, that is. I have been having a really hard time focusing on anything. Chronic scatter-brained-ness. I don't feel like I've accomplished much of anything the last few days.
But it was my old man's birthday. So there's that.
It was pretty low key. We ate. We like to eat.
Oh, and I did crochet up a new cap for the boy. I might make him one more with a bill on it. Maybe.
And we took some pictures of each other in a chair. Exciting, right?

{Emberly thought the pirate candle was fitting, you know, with all the time Damon's spent at sea, looting.} |

Eh...
I came across an article while I was wasting time on Facebook. I read it and was irritated. It was about the woman who recently finished a marathon whilst 39wks pregnant. You can probably deduce my feelings on it given my blog dedicated to having a fit pregnancy with my son. It went on to talk about the unfair pressures on women and how she may have unintentionally set the bar even higher. Insert me rolling my eyes so hard that they may fall out of my head. Pressure to be a size 2 a week after you give birth = bad. Pressure to stay in shape and not gain excessive weight for a healthy pregnancy and easy delivery = good. Obviously every woman isn't going to run a marathon. Most will still view pregnancy as her time to eat as she pleases and relax. But if she inspired one pregnant woman to get off the couch and walk her dog an extra block, then good.

New Feature!
I really enjoyed my sister, Danielle's, illustration of Emberly's runaway threat, so much so that I'll have a new feature, hopefully weekly, for her sketches!
The first, an ESA we were given as an attempt to disguise defiant tongue-poking.
